The summit, which took place on September 13-14, centered around forming a unified European stance on the Arctic as its strategic and geopolitical significance grows. Frederiksen pointed out the intensifying cooperation among European and transatlantic partners concerning Arctic security. In line with this, several allied nations are actively participating in exercises conducted in Greenland, showcasing a collective European commitment to securing the region.
Greenland, while a self-governing entity, remains part of the Kingdom of Denmark. This status has been a focal point of international interest, particularly from the United States. The matter gained attention after U.S. President Donald Trump repeatedly expressed an interest in acquiring Greenland, a proposition that has stirred tensions between Washington, Copenhagen, and other European allies.
